Is this really why Facebook blocks users?

Facebook have refused to allow an advertisement for the video promoting our new book, Missing Millions – how abortion is harming us all, on the ground, to quote, that it ‘is about sensitive social issues that could influence public opinion’.

John McEnroe’s famous complaint at Wimbledon in 1985 comes to mind.  ‘You cannot be serious!’

Let us be clear, it would seem they have turned down our advertisement not because it contains false information or is any other way misleading, or offends public decency… but because being confronted with the facts might influence public opinion on sensitive social issues.  They don’t add that it might also save innocent lives.

Out of sight, definitely out of mind!

According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, totalitarianism is a ‘a form of government that theoretically permits no individual freedom and that seeks to subordinate all aspects of individual life to the authority of the state’.    The article continues, ‘(totalitarianism) attempts to control and direct all aspects of individual life through coercion and repression …’ (https://www.britannica.com/topic/totalitarianism ).

Which pretty well seems to describe Facebook’s actions here.  In fact, in VfJUK’s opinion, by blocking those with whom they disagree, the social media giant would appear to demonstrate an unfortunate commitment to suppress any and all views that conflict with society’s prevailing Weltanschauung.   So what has happened to freedom of belief and of speech?  What has happened to what we once called ‘morality’?  Does Facebook not wish to support diversity of opinion?
