Reject calls to legalise abortion up to birth.

We call on Her Majesty’s Government to reject absolutely any and all calls to legalise abortion up to birth. Sign the Petition Here.

At the recent G7 Summit in Biarritz, world leaders were told by the Gender Equality Advisory Council that removing all legal safeguards and allowing abortion up to birth is recommended good practice in advancing gender equality. In recent months, and using similar arguments, abortion activists in the UK have similarly been pushing for the legalisation of abortion up to birth – and for its extension to Northern Ireland, in clear disregard of the democratically expressed will of the people of that Province.

Last year, according to the Office for National Statistics, there were 205,295 abortions in England and Wales (see evidence), meaning that overall one in four pregnancies ended in termination. For any population to survive every woman must bear at least 2.3 children. Currently in the UK the level of reproduction is 1.7 births per woman, meaning that if current trends continue we shall, by the middle of the century, have come dangerously close to extinction. The same problem is being replicated worldwide. On top of this, sex selective abortions – where girls are aborted simply because they are female – have led to a dangerously destabilising sex-ratio imbalance in places such as India and China.

The right to abortion up to birth does not empower women nor, as claimed, will it advance gender equality. On the contrary, all it does is encourage sexual promiscuity devoid of the need for commitment – which, if anything, primarily benefits men – and endangers the continuation of the human race.

We call on Her Majesty’s Government to reject unequivocally all attempts to extend the time limit for abortion. We further call for a reduction of the existing time limit from 24 to 18 weeks, so as to reflect medical advances which mean that babies as young as 21 weeks now routinely survive.
